First News From Argentina Posted By: jason (4/30/2008 7:13:16 AM) Hi Everyone. Here is a long overdue update. As you probably know by now we arrived in Argentina on the 9th of April. We have been in Argentina almost 2 weeks now. Things here in the city of Trelew are going good. We have been able to spend some time with Ita’s parents and with our church people. We would like to share a few prayer requests with you. ***The field needs to sell three homes in different parts of Argentina so that we can purchase three homes in the city of Santa Rosa. Please pray that all the homes will sell and that we will be able to get to Santa Rosa soon. ***We are trying to do the paper work to get Jonathan and Nicolas registered as residents here in Argentina. They are here now as tourist and have only 90 days legally in the country. The paper work can take up to a year and a half to complete. Please pray that this will be done as quickly as possible. ***We need to purchase a car. A car here is very expensive. A minivan here will cost us about $57,000 US dollars. So, I guess that is out of the question. We are looking for a family vehicle, but they are still extremely expensive and the cheaper we go the less safe they are. So, we are trying to find something more economical, but with safety features as well. Please pray that God will lead us to the car He wants us to have and that He will provide for it. *** Another thing is we shipped some things from Maine. Please pray that they arrive here safely and swiftly. The shipment is supposed to be delivered here to Trelew. Pray that customs will not try to stop it in Buenos Aires. If it is stopped in Buenos Aires we will have to travel to Buenos Aires to get them through customs. I know that we are asking for lots of prayers. We need it and we really appreciate your prayers for us. A blessing that we would like to share is that our support is up to 96%. So we are only lacking $175 dollars of a monthly support. Will I guess this will be all for our update. Now that we are connected to the internet we will try to keep everyone more informed. Thank you for your prayers and support. God News Posted By: jason (3/20/2008 7:43:32 AM) Good News We have reached 90% and we are able to go to Argentina!! Although we are still lacking $500 to be fully supported we have been given the go ahead. We will be leaving Maine on April 8th, and we are hoping to be in the city of Santa Rosa sometime in July 2008. We are really excited in starting this new ministry in Santa Rosa and working side by side with our church planting team. We really feel that God has put this team together and we also feel that God has great plans for Santa Rosa and this team. Our Move We are selling our things here to help pay for shipping and our set up costs in Argentina. Please pray for the shipping of our things and all the paper work that is involved in shipping overseas. Also, if you know of anyone looking for a minivan, lawn mower and other things we have for sale. Please let them or us know, also you can go to www.stroutinforma.com and click on Moving sale to see things that we have for sale. Our Van is the biggest item and we need to sell it, sometime around April 1st. Thank you We really thank you for your prayers, support and friendship. We really hope that you never forget how important you are to our family, and God’s ministry. We hope that you are excited to see what God will do in His work by all of us coming together. Thank you!! Jason, Ita, Jonathan and Nicolas Download this update Team Santa Rosa Posted By: jason (3/20/2008 7:41:29 AM) After three weeks of team training in Kansas City, Mo, TEAM SANTA ROSA has been formed. The team is composed of Larry and Melissa Strout, Daniel and Val Longhin, and Jason and Ita Strout. Larry and Melissa Strout: Are veteran missionaries from Maine who have been serving the Lord in church planting for 33 years in Argentina. Daniel and Val Longhin and their four sons: Daniel is from Argentina and Val from Grand Rapids Michigan, and they have been serving the Lord two and a half years in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Jason and Ita Strout and their two sons: Jason is a MK from Argentina and Ita is Argentine. This will be the first time they will be serving in Argentina as career missionaries. Our Purpose in Santa Rosa Our purpose is to leave a dynamic Bible-believing church led by strong spiritual families who serve God together and want to bring the hope of Christ to their community. Using the central location of Santa Rosa we also desire to reach out and encourage the other Avant churches in Argentina. We are going to accomplish this by using the short-cycle church planting methods that were presented during the team training. In the next few weeks we will be making our way back to Argentina preparing to move and start the ministry in Santa Rosa. We plan on arriving in Santa Rosa by July 2008, to begin making contacts and evangelizing. Thank you for being part of this team reaching the unsaved souls of Santa Rosa, Argentina Download this update Update Baby Nicolas Posted By: jason (11/1/2007 11:42:36 AM) Hi Everyone. Thank you for your prayers, This is just a very short note to let everyone know that Nicolas Alexander Strout was born on OCT 29th at 3:07am. He weighs 8.5lbs and is 21 inches long. Mother and baby and Jonathan and I are doing fine. We appreciate your prayers and support. God Bless, Jason, Ita, Jonathan and Nicolas August Update Posted By: jason (9/3/2007 7:28:17 AM) Please click here to download update as a pdf. Dear Friends, Well time has gone by like it always does and it is time for an update. This summer We really have enjoyed helping and sharing in two local camps this summer. It is always great working with kids and teens and having the privilege of being an influence in their lives. Also, we (especially Jonathan) get to enjoy being outside, and enjoy some of the summer with Christian friends. What is next? We will be continuing to visit supporting churches and trying to make new contacts to be able to raise the remaining support that we need. During the month of September we will be going up to New Brunswick to visit churches. We also will be spending some time with Jason’s brother and his family, and see their new ministry and meet their new baby. Support At this moment we are at 72% of the 90 that we need to be able to go. So we are very close and we are very excited to see God working. So at this time we are lacking 18% and that means that we need to find 36 people that could commit 25 dollars a month. That is less than a cup of coffee a day. So please pray that as we visit churches we will be able to get the lacking $900 that we need to be able to go. Some have asked if we will need more support as we are expecting another baby. No, the new baby is already calculated into our support so our support level does not change. When are we going? If all of our support comes in, we will be going to Argentina in March 2008. As you know, we are expecting another baby boy which is due in October. Then in February of 2008 we would be going out to Avant’s main office to meet and take a course with the rest of the church planting team. Then after this we would be going to Argentina. Closing We know that you have been very faithful in your support, and we really appreciate it. We would not be so close or still raising support if it was not for all your prayers, support, and friendship. We trust that you will be encouraged as we are getting closer to being able to go.
